Man United Zone (utdzone.co.uk) is an independent Manchester United fan site run by the team behind @ManUnitedZone on X. If you have any questions about your data, email [email protected].
What we collect
- Newsletter: if you subscribe, we store your email address and the date you signed up. We only use it to send you the Man United Zone newsletter. Every newsletter includes a way to unsubscribe, or you can email us to be removed.
- Contact form: we store the name, email address and message you send, plus your IP address to help stop spam. We only use this to reply to you, and we delete messages once we no longer need them.
- Comments: if you comment, we store the name and comment you give us, plus your IP address to help stop spam.
- Spam protection: to stop abuse of our forms and login page, we keep a short record linked to your IP address for up to 24 hours.
Cookies
Readers get no cookies from us. We use one essential cookie, and only for the people who sign in to write and edit articles. It keeps them signed in and is deleted when they sign out, or after 7 days. Because we set no other cookies, we don't need to ask for cookie consent.
We don't use Google Analytics, advertising cookies or ad partners. If that changes, we'll update this page and ask for your permission first.
Visitor statistics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't store anything on your device and doesn't follow you across other websites. We only see totals, such as page views, which sites sent visitors to us and how quickly pages load.
We also count how many times each article is read, without cookies. When you open an article, your browser sends us the article's address, the name of the website that linked you (for example x.com or google.com, never the full link) and the utm_source tag if the link had one. Cloudflare tells us which country the request came from. To count each reader once rather than every refresh, we combine your IP address, browser type and the article with a random code that changes every day, and keep only a scrambled fingerprint of that, never your IP address. Fingerprints are deleted within about 24 hours. What we keep is just totals per article per day, broken down by source, mobile or desktop, and country.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles standard technical information such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. You can read Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Sharing
We never sell your personal data or share it with advertisers. Only the people who run Man United Zone can see it.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete the data we hold about you by emailing [email protected]. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
